PRATT, Kan. (KAKE) - Hours after voters passed a sales tax to fund a new pool complex in Pratt, a family has stepped forward to pay the entire cost.

"Pratt has a history of selfless acts of kindness carried out by community minded individuals and families. This amazing city is the result of much work and generous acts big and small," the City of Pratt said on its website

"It is with hearts full of gratitude that we now announce that a generous and selfless family has committed to paying for the City of Pratt Pool Project in full, the city's release said. "Their strong desire to unburden their fellow citizens has led them to make this commitment over four years."

According to the release, an agreement between the city and donor family ensures that no tax dollars will be spent on the project. According to Pratt County election results, voters on Tuesday approved the sales tax 1,390 to 431.

The city says the Pratt Pool Project began in 2007 when the city was made aware of its failing pool situation.
