WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A Kansas-based children's literacy nonprofit organization announced Monday that NBA basketball Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal will be in Wichita next month for a charity basketball tournament to support early literacy for the state's children.

Storytime Village said during a news conference that Shaq's appearance at Hoops 4 Literacy will be on September 10 at Charles Koch Arena.

"At 7 ft 1 in tall, Shaq's larger-than-life personality and powerful athleticism have resulted in worldwide admiration and one of the most passionate fan bases in sports and entertainment, Storytime Village said in a release. "Hoops 4 Literacy is the finale of a three-day Kansas Literacy Festival from September 8th-10th. Shaq will attend the event to promote literacy to children and meet community members."
