Sheriff's office identifies man killed in head-on crash near Wichita airport
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office says a 32-year-old man was killed and another man suffered serious injuries in a crash on the southwestern outskirts of Wichita on Wednesday.
The accident happened shortly after 11 a.m. on MacArthur near Ridge Road, which is south of Eisenhower National Airport. Sgt. John Rolston said an eastbound Chevy Cruze drifted over the center line and hit an oncoming pickup truck head-on.
The driver of the Cruze, Nicholas Cox of Haysville, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 27-year-old Derby man driving the pickup was hospitalized in serious condition.
Sgt. Rolston said the accident appeared to be a slow drift left of center and that speed, drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors. The investigation is ongoing.
