DERBY, Kan. (KAKE) - The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office has identified a 35-year-old man who died Wednesday night in a motorcycle crash east of Derby.

Emergency crews responded just before 10 p.m. to the area of 71st Street South and Greenwich. Lt. Tim Forshee said at the scene that the person who called 911 told the dispatcher a family member was out on their motorcycle and had crashed.

The sheriff's office said Thursday that Shawn Glass was heading south on Greenwich and drove through the T-intersection at 71st Street. The motorcycle went off the road and continued southbound into a wooded area.

Glass was separated from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries.

The crash is under investigation, but the weather did not appear to be a factor, Lt. Forshee said.

The sheriff's office said Glass was from Derby, contradicting an earlier report that he was from Oklahoma and was in the area visiting family.
