Old Glory Relay makes a stop in Wichita on Flag Day
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Old Glory Relay made its way through Kansas this week.
The national relay being put on by Team RWB started in Washington D.C. and is making its way down to Birmingham, Alabama traveling 3,100 miles through 15 states.
Volunteers picked up in Wichita Tuesday morning and left the WSU Airbus building and are heading toward Tonkawa, Oklahoma.
The goal is to complete the trip in 44 days with Tuesday marking day 21. Thousands of supporters are walking, running and cycling the American flag to the Birmingham World Games.
It's all to show support to our nation's veterans.
"It's the stories and the experience, it's one of those as a staff on the road, we say it's incredibly exhausting, but it's also so inspiring and it makes it so worth it," said Caitlin Pollard, Team RWB associate director of events.
