ST. MARYS, Kan. (KAKE) - A 7-year-old girl from northeast Kansas suffered critical injuries last weekend when a falling tree branch hit her in the head, according to an online fundraiser.

Quinlynn Jones is a second-grader at St. Marys Grade School. A GoFundMe says the 7-year-old was playing outside on Saturday when the branch struck her.

A Facebook group created for updates on Quinlynn's condition says the girl has a skull fracture that may require surgery.

"She is love and light, free spirited, with that Old Blues Soul.... and right now she is stuck in a hospital bed (yes, in a 'coma'), connected to machines, cold, and very still, fighting for her life," a group admin said Wednesday. "So we will keep the light on, and just wait. Wait for Quinlynn Irene and her wake up day."

The GoFundMe for Quinlynn's medical expenses and to help her family had raised nearly $6,500 as of Wednesday morning. Click here to donate.
