Police arrest suspect in northeast Wichita shooting
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) – Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection to a shooting in northeast Wichita on Monday.
Sedgwick County jail records show Danilo Antonio Vargas was booked Monday evening for attempted aggravated battery and traffic violations.
The shooting was reported at around 12:45 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Kwik Shop at 21st and Oliver, just northeast of the Wichita State University campus. A 36-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh.
A 36-year-old man is in critical but stable condition after a shooting in northeast Wichita.
According to officer Ed Brower, at approximately 12:43 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot behind the Kwik Shop, at 21st and Oliver.
When officers arrived on the scene, they located a 36-year-old man with a single gunshot wound to his left thigh. He was transported to the hospital and is in critical but stable condition.
One suspect was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, based on information provided by the victim. Police believe the two men knew each other.
Wichita police say one person was shot during a fight on the northeast side and that a suspect is in custody.

Police at the scene said the victim was shot in the upper thigh. The suspect was taken into custody a short time later.
