GODDARD, Kan. (KAKE) - The Kansas Highway Patrol says four people were hospitalized following a crash on U.S. 54 near Goddard on Monday.

The accident happened at around 6:15 a.m. in the westbound lanes at 183rd Street. The patrol says a tractor trailer was slowing for the red light for the left turn lane and lights were westbound and eastbound traffic were green. A westbound Toyota Camry swerved to the left and struck the trailer. 

The 25-year-old man driving the Camry and a 37-year-old male passenger suffered potentially serious injuries. Two female passengers, ages 21 and 36, had minor injuries. The patrol says no one in the Camry was wearing a seat belt.

The 64-year-old driver of the semi was not hurt.
