Freedom truck convoy rolls into Kansas on way to Washington, D.C.

SALINA, Kan. (KAKE) - The "Freedom Convoy," a truck convoy movement that was created to protest vaccine mandates, will be passing through Kansas Thursday and Friday.

The convoy was originally created to protest vaccine mandates for crossing the United States border, but later became a protest about COVID-19 mandates in general.

According to KSAL, it is scheduled stop in many cities across the U.S. including an overnight stop in Salina on Thursday. The convoy will head east on Interstate 70 across Colorado and Kansas, stopping for the night in Salina at the Pilot, Petro, and 24/7 Travel stores at approximately 8:30 p.m.

Other stops include Junction City and Topeka, where the convoy will be doing a "slow roll" through those cities.

The final destination of the convoy is Washington D.C. where trucks from several routes will meet up.

It's one of several U.S. convoys modeled on the recent Canadian truckers’ protests which shut down U.S.-Canadian border crossings and besieged the streets of the capital, Ottawa, for weeks, the Associated Press reports.
