SEDGWICK, Kan. (KAKE) - A 26-year-old convicted child sex offender has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for convincing a girl to send him sexually explicit photos.

The U.S. attorney's office in Kansas said Frederick Martin, of Sedgwick, pleaded guilty to one count of producing child pornography.

Between August and October of last year, Martin used his cellphone to communicate with the victim, a minor, via Snapchat and iMessage, according to a news release.

"He persuaded the teenage victim to record and send him sexually explicit images of herself," the release said. "Martin also sent the victim photos of himself engaged in sexual acts."

Martin admitted finding out the girl's age, which has not been released, while they were exchanging photos.

The release said that when the crimes were committed, Martin was on parole for prior convictions in Massachusetts on multiple counts of child rape and possession of child pornography.

The Kansas Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Homeland Security investigated the case.
