Detectives believe Wichita man sexually abused child for years
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Wichita police have arrested a 39-year-old man for the alleged sexual abuse of a child.
Sedgwick County jail records show Jaime Torres-Cordero was booked Tuesday night on one count of aggravated indecent liberties of a child. However, investigators believe he abused the minor over the course of about six years.
Department spokesperson Trevor Macy said detectives with the Exploited and Missing Child Unit were notified Tuesday of a report of possible sexual abuse occurring at a home in the 600 block of North Battin, near Central and Oliver.
"During the investigation, detectives developed cause to believe Torres-Cordero had engaged in unlawful sexual activity with a minor in the home," Officer Macy said in a news release. "The unlawful sexual activity is believed to have occurred multiple times over a period of approximately six years."
Police have not released the child's age or gender.
Torres-Cordero was arrested after being interviews by detectives. The case will be presented to the district attorney's office.
