(KAKE) - Abandoned and abused farm animals have a place to call home at Mt. Hope Animal Sanctuary. And they can thank Jana Reeder who felt called to create this loving and nurturing environment.

“My friends at KHS started calling me whenever they saw at the shelter, a farm animal brought in. And I lived in the city and I had pigs and sheep in my house, and I was going all over several state areas trying to find places for these animals,” said Reeder.

So, she created a place of her own in Burrton where the animals get lifetime care.

“It’s a labor of love! But it is a lot of work,” said Reeder.

And to do that work, she is always in need of volunteers.

“I need help out there! So, people can contact us on our Facebook page that might want to join a volunteer group. Or we are in big need of fosters for baby pigs right now!” said Reeder.

KAKE News and the DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers are honored to present Mt. Hope Animal Sanctuary with a $500 check as this week’s “Wins for Kansas” recipient.

“I want to thank KAKE TV and DeVaughn James and everyone that nominated us for this wonderful award. We are so grateful. We are in need of hay and feed since it’s wintertime, and this will really, really help us out and we appreciate you so much,” said Reeder.
