2 homeless men found dead during cold weekend in Kansas City
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Two men who were homeless were found dead in Kansas City on a weekend when temperatures fell below freezing.
A volunteer with Free Hot Soup Kansas City, which provides meals and supplies to the homeless, found a man dead inside a vacant building Sunday night.
Alina Heart, that volunteer with Free Hot Soup Kansas City, said she had been asked to check on the man because of the cold.
“It appeared that they were trying to stay warm without any shelter,” Heart said, “and it appeared -- I’m not sure, but it appeared like they suffered from the cold.”
On Friday, a 41-year-old homeless man was found dead in an area where homeless people stay, KSHB-TV reported.
The Kansas City area received several inches of snow on Friday and night time temperatures fell below freezing during the weekend.
