WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - Wichita police have identified the 27-year-old man who died at a crash over the weekend.

Officers responded at around 10:40 p.m. Saturday to an injury accident at 21st Street North and 127th Street East. They found a 2004 GMC Envoy overturned and Derrick Pruett pinned inside.

"Wichita Fire Department personnel removed Pruett from the vehicle and performed life-saving measures, but he succumbed to his injuries on the scene," Officer Charley Davidson said in a news release.

The investigation revealed that Pruett was heading west on 21st Street when he lost control of the vehicle. The GMC hit the median and a utility pole, causing it to overturn.

Davidson said speed is believed to be a factor in the accident.

A GoFundMe for Pruett's wife has raised nearly $12,000 as of Tuesday morning.
