(KAKE) - TECH, The Training and Evaluation Center of Hutchinson, helps adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities achieve their independence.

“Our mission is to help individuals with disabilities reach their fullest potential possible,” said Sharri King, director of marketing and development.

They’ve been a part of the Hutchinson community for more than 45 years, serving through their art program, residential services, and more.

“We also help with job readiness programs. So, individuals that may not be in the work environment, we can teach them and help them learn how to become more work ready and even provide jobs for some of them,” said King.

And those programs not only help those participating, but the entire community.

“It’s very often that we’re able to see their confidence grow or just see additional smiles on their faces and such because they feel they are living more productive lives and they can be more independent,” said King.

KAKE News and the DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers are honored to present TECH a $500 check as this week’s “Wins for Kansas” recipient.

“Thank you so much KAKE TV and DeVaughn James for helping support our programs and services for the individuals we serve. We appreciate you,” said King.
