WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 40-year-old man has been charged in the death of a woman whose body was found in a south Wichita motel room last week.

Ricky Hollins Jr was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder and patronizing a prostitute. He remains jailed on $200,000 bond. 

The body of 33-year-old Stephanie Duran was found Thursday morning in a room at the Budget Motel at 1315 South Broadway. Officers were called there for a report of an unresponsive female. 

Police said that Duran suffered injuries to her body.

Kansas Department of Corrections records show Hollins has prior drug convictions.

Wichita police say a 33-year-old woman has been found dead at a motel on the south side and they're investigating her dearth as a criminal homicide. 

Officers responded shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday to the report of an unresponsive female in a room at the Budget Motel at 1315 South Broadway. They arrived to find Stephanie Duran who had injuries to her body. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police spokesperson Charley Davidson said a staff member found Duran in the room and called police.

Investigators are working to determine what happened. No arrests have been announced.

Duran's death was the city's second homicide in about 12 hours. On Wednesday night, a 31-year-old man was shot to death at Stryker Sports Complex.
