(KAKE) - Good Grief of Kansas is helping people in the Wichita area walk through the emotional journey after a loved one’s death.

“We have weekly self-help meetings that people can come to a safe place and talk about their grief. And that helps them work through it,” said Janet Cook of Good Grief.

Anyone is welcome at the meetings, which are a place where everyone in the room understands.

“After a month or two, your friends and family are really tired of you talking about it all the time. But talking about it and talking about the person who passed on is how you help yourself get through it,” said Cook.

You can find more information about meetings at GoodGriefOfKansas.org.

And after that, all you have to do show up.

“Just try it. The amount of time after the death, some people aren’t ready for a while. Some people are ready right away,” said Cook.

And whenever you’re ready, they will be there for you every step of the way.

“Because you don’t get over it, you get through it,” said Cook.

KAKE News and the DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers are honored to present Good Grief of Kansas with the “Win’s for Kansas” grant.

“Thank you DeVaughn James. This will help us to publish our monthly newsletter and help us provide us a place for people who are grieving.” said Cook.
