Wichita man shows lesson in redemption after car burglary
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A burglary turned into a story of redemption. After a Wichita man had $2,000 worth of items stolen from his car, he tracked down the 12-year-old that did it.
It was all caught on dash camera. The 12 year-old-boy boy and his friend, breaking into a car, then getting away with several valuables and cash.
The victim, AJ Bohannon, could have called the cops. Instead, he chose a different approach. He found the 12-year-old, and showed him some serious grace, while pleading for him to turn his life around.
Bohannon believes this boy’s life is worth far more than anything that was taken.
"He robbed the right person because with him doing what he did to me it gave me an opportunity to really reach out to him and pour back into his life. Unfortunate situation we had to meet on those terms but I think it was a blessing in disguise that we did cross paths because now I'll be forever attached to that kid."
The new bond will be forming on a football field. The boy will be joining Coach Bohannon's huddle starting Monday.
