INDEPENDENCE, Kan. (KAKE) - The Kansas Bureau of Investigation and the Independence Police Department are hoping the community may know what happened to Detreck Julian Foster. He went missing three years ago and investigators believe Detreck was murdered.

Family last heard from Detreck around April 12,  2020. According to a case file with The Department of Justice, Detreck is from Independence, Kan. Agents from that community suspect foul play in his disappearance, though they do not specifically detail why they believe so due to the investigation.

Detreck stopped contact with family entirely, including his two daughters, which family says were his everything, according to a report with the Parsons Sun. His family said he's worked as a corrections officer and private security in the past, but due to the pandemic, he was between jobs.
