WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A puppy worth close to $2,000 dollars was stolen from an area pet shop.

However, two days later he was returned by a stranger.

It happened over the weekend at Petland on the east side of town.

“They came in asked to see the puppy and pretty much just waited until we weren’t paying attention, and then ran off with the pup,” one of the store managers, Austin Hagler told KAKE News.

Surveillance video of the incident captured the people Petland says was involved. The alleged thieves also had a young child as a part of the scheme according to the pet store.

The puppy, a Miniature Pincher was returned by a stranger two days later who did not take the $500 reward being offered. The store tells KAKE News they have involved police and want answers.

“My heart just kind of dropped because they’re babies you know we work with them every day and we love them. So it kind of really just sucks that we lost a puppy but we're just happy we got it back in the end,” Hagler added.
