Since June of 2016, the We Are Grateful Sanctuary, or WAGS has helped hundreds of dogs and cats.

But they especially love to help special needs and senior animals, who are sometimes tough to get adopted.

"It's just like family. You take care of the seniors in your community, why wouldn't you take care of your senior dogs if you want them to be a part of your family?” says founder, Jennifer Rouse.

But they know sometimes this isn't the reality for some.

So, they help to provide around the clock end of life care, assistance in fostering, and finding homes for these animals.

It's a dream that became a reality for Jennifer Rouse who created the nonprofit.

"I was just like you know I love dogs, and I never got to do my vet dream. So, I want to do a rescue and help out those that can't get the help they need,” says Rouse.

If you'd like to help, you can find her website where they welcome donations and volunteers.

And Jennifer has this advice to help keep her kennels empty.

"When dogs get into their senior years, don't dump them for a puppy. Give them care like you would your grandparents."

To help with their mission, KAKE TV and our partners, DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers, are honored to have them as this week's, “Wins for Kansas.”
