Family says it was Kristin and Randy Gile who died Saturday after a shooting in Derby.

But it's the details in this GoFundMe set up by Kristin’s cousin that reveal just how troubled the couple's marriage was.

In it, she says, Kristin was desperately trying to get out of the abusive relationship and had a protective order against Randy who she thought was in jail.

"They were in two different vehicles, and we believe there was a shooting that occurred out in the roadway,” said Captain Brad Hoch with the Sedgwick Co. Sherriff’s Office.

A witness told KAKE both were speeding down the road, nearing 63rd and Rock, as shots were fired before Randy side-swiped Kristin, got out of his car, shot her and then shot himself.

Police records show Randy was arrested for criminal threat and aggravated assault just last month.

Randy's sister Sherranda Gile says he was a good man and a good father before getting hooked on alcohol.

In a statement to KAKE, she said, "First and foremost, our hearts and prayers go out to [Kristin’s] family and all those affected by this horrible senseless tragedy. We are all in great shock and devastated by what has happened. No words or actions of mine will make what my brother did alright or bring either one of them back. I just pray for healing for both families."

Money from the GoFundMe will go toward funeral costs for Kristin and helping the couple's six kids.
