
Help deserving children start the school year with the necessary supplies by contributing to the KAKE School Supply Landslide July 26 through August 6, 2021.
Drop off school supplies and/or non-perishable classroom snacks at any Wichita Dillons, KAKE, Sedgwick County Zoo. Locations are listed below.
Cash donations can be accepted here. You can choose to donate to either the Salvation Army of Sedgwick County and/or Project teacher.
Don't forget to celebrate with us at the back-to-school bash at Sedgwick County Zoo on August 7. Bring a school supply donation and receive $3 admission. It will be an epic birthday celebration with Dillons celebrating 100-years, Sedgwick County Zoo celebrating 50 years, and KAKE School Supply Landslide celebrating 25 years!
All school supplies and monetary donations will be equally split among Salvation Army and Project Teacher. Both organizations serve local teachers and students.
School Supply Landslide began in 1996 as a response to concerns expressed by area educators and parents about children coming to school without the supplies they need. In 2019 $1,352 was donated along with thousands of school supplies.
Project Teacher operates a resource center for teachers to come and receive school supplies for free. In 2018, the supplies Project Teacher received was enough for 182 classrooms to receive core supplies (so roughly 3600 students). The funds were used to secure and pay for the freight from a national donation which meant that nearly $150,000 in ADDITIONAL supplies were brought into our resource center to be distributed throughout the school year.
.Project Teacher's registration for teacher shopping opens in August. Teachers can register online herebeginning in August. Teacher shopping will being later in August when schools are back in session.
In 2020, The Salvation Army 1500 school supplies and 300 backpacks were donated. This served nearly 10,000 students which and due to covid. The Salvation Army boxed and directly delivered to school teaching teams. This year, The Salvation Army is partnering with the school districts directly, and are expected to deliver directly to schools for families not able to afford school supplies
