TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Officials say they may have nabbed the man responsible for a Topeka credit union robbery and a scare at the same location Thursday.

54-year-old Charles Shaw of Kansas City, Missouri was charged Friday with federal counts of attempted armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm in commission of a violent crime.

Police say he tried to rob the Educational Credit Union on at SW 9th and Topeka Boulevard just before 11:30 am Thursday, but fell and broke his ankle running from the scene.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says a security guard became suspicious because he believed Shaw matched the description of a man who robbed the credit union back on December 30th.
