TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A business partner of a murdered developer is behind bars on unrelated charges.

Topeka Police and Shawnee County Jail officials are tight-lipped about why Monroe Eugene Aldridge Lockhart III was taken into custody Thursday afternoon. Police will only say he was booked on charges of aggravated assault, battery, burglary and intimidation of a witness.

Police say the charges are not related to the slaying of his business partner, 39-year-old Corey Brown. Brown's body was found January 6th, just east of the Shawnee County line in rural Douglas County. He's been reported missing two days earlier.

Lockhart is a managing partner of Mo's Express Convenience Store in the Hudson Crossing Shopping Center that Brown and his father developed at SE 15th and Adams.

Two clerks at the convenience store were shot and wounded in a November holdup. No arrests have been made in the case. On Christmas Eve, a worker was killed during a robbery at the neighboring liquor store. A man is charged in that incident.
