TOPEKA, KAN (WIBW) - It was an eventful Friday night in the North Topeka Community Arts District.

NOTO officials announced a $50,000 donation. It was made by an anonymous New York foundation that has agreed to match them on the donations they will receive.

NOTO leaders also announced the Saturday Market, which will be open on a weekly basis beginning in April and November 2012. The Market will be located under the Kansas Avenue Bridge, including the Veteran's Park areas, and just steps away from the NOTO Arts District main street. The focus will be on crafts, art, antiques, vintage items, and foods. They will also provide music and entertainment as part of the experience.

Potential vendors are encouraged to visit with organizers.

Earlier in the night, NOTO welcomed Serendipity, a new business, with a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony. Serendipity is Topeka's newest unique event venue.

Owner Jenny Torrence-Harris says Serendipity is available to host events such as receptions and meetings. Friday, it was filled with the work of local artists, live music, and local food vendors who showed off their specials.
