Funeral Services Set for Kansas National Guardsmen Save Email Print

Funeral services are scheduled next week for a Kansas National Guardsmen based in Topeka who died in Iraq.

Sgt. Courtney Finch, 27, of Leavenworth died Tuesday. The funeral will be Thursday, August 2 at 10 a.m. at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, July 31 at Davis Funeral Chapel, 531 Shawnee, Leavenworth.

The public is invited to a reception at 11 a.m. Thursday morning at VFW Post 56, 519 Cherokee, Leavenworth.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Kansas Military Emergency Relief Fund, c/o The Kansas Adjutant General's Department, 2800 S.W. Topeka Blvd., Topeka, KS 66611.

Finch was deployed to Iraq in June of last year with the 714th Security Force.

Sgt. Finch's death was non-combat related but the cause is unknown.

An investigation is underway.
