Brown Co. (WIBW) - Authorities arrested a person of interest in the disappearance of Patricia Kimmi—but on an unrelated charge. Brown County officials booked 58-year-old Roger Hollister, of Sabetha, Thursday afternoon.
The accident on Highway 75 last week left Kansas Highway Patrol crews questioning its cause and after an intense investigation, they suspect foul play.
“In 23 years I’ve spent as a trooper with the highway patrol, I’ve never worked an accident exactly like this one,” said Master Trooper Jerry Clary.
Roger Hollister was driving south on Highway 75 just outside Fairview last Friday when he collided with a semi-truck. Hollister and his wife, Rebecca, were eventually taken to K.U. Med with serious injuries.
Authorities arrested him Thursday afternoon immediately after his release from the hospital. They believe Hollister intentionally caused the head-on collision. The Brown County Sheriff's department booked Hollister for attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery.
The Hollister’s have been considered persons of interest in the case of Patricia Kimmi since she went missing from her rural Horton home last November. Authorities searched the couple's rural Sabetha home in mid-January looking for any connection to the case.
The accident occurred just days after the Atchison County attorney announced the start of closed-door interviews. The first took place February 18 and continued Thursday after three people were subpoenaed to testify in front of the county prosecutor.
Hollister remains behind bars at the Atchison County jail. Authorities moved him because his brother works at the Brown County jail.
