Topeka (WIBW) - Kansas Democrats are getting the troops assembled for their run through campaign season.
The party's Washington Days event kicked off Friday night at the Ramada Hotel in downtown Topeka.
A fundraising auction started the night.
The group then heard from statewide office holders, like Attorney General Steve Six and State Treasurer Dennis McKinney, and touted the candidates they're supporting in this year's elections, including gubernatorial candidate State Sen. Tom Holland and Congressional candide State Rep. Raj Goyle.
House Minority Leader Paul Davis, D-Lawrence, says Democrats feel good about the excitement at the event. He says Kansans deserve a choice when they go to the ballot box in November, and Democrats feel they're offering strong alternatives to the GOP candidates.
California Congressman Mike Honda was to address the crowd later in the night.
Washington Days continues with several caucus sessions and workshops Saturday.
