A nine year partnership came to an end today - but it's a new beginning for the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation.

Today they've officially taken over their casino enterprise which was formerly known as Harrah's Prairie Band Casino.

A baton passing ceremony formally ushered in new management at Prairie Band Casino and Resort. Prairie Band Potawatomi Members say it was always the intention of the tribe to takeover operations of the casino when they originally entered into the partnership with Harrah's in 1998.

Today's ceremony kicked off a week of celebratory activities at the casino including a fireworks display planned for July 4th and a giveaway of a 2007 Ford-Harley-Davidson truck.

Gee, Tom, either your wife is a terrible cook or you don't know what "good" food is. I have been to all the casinos in KC, Topeka and elsewhere. The whole point of a casino is gambling...you know, where you go and spend money hoping to get a little? Why would people complain anyhow? They sit there for hours, and I mean hours-on end, and complain about food? NOT loss of an entire month's salary, but food? You are a loser, man. Regardless, I am glad to hear of the change also. Native Americans deserve as much as anyone else, and there are enough Harrah's congloms. I will, have and do plan to continue my patronage at this casino! Kudos!

HAHA First off I have heard really good things about the casino being taken over. But for Tom from Topeka. I dont think many people are going to care too much about bad food. For example here we go to six flags and seaworld, Shows and events all over Dallas and the food SUCKS at all those places. SIX FLAGS is the worst offender but you know what they have a packed house every weekend. SO, now back to the good, I have been told to come up to KS asap that the hotel rates at the casino are cheaper and the slots are looser!!!!!! So, TOPEKA here I come! Too bad though it takes a casino to get the tribe in the news....you know they do a lot of other cool stuff too. FYI.

The buffet food at the casino is most AWFUL. It is no better and probably worse than Coyote Canyon and other restaurants in Topeka. For minimum of $15 it is way overpriced and the quality and selection is woefully inadequte. I have emailed them but have not heard back from them. All I know is I will never eat at this place again. I have eaten at 3 of the 4 casinos in KC and they are absolutely wonderful. The tribe here which runs the casino best figure out how to cook quality food or word will spread quickly.
