Topeka (WIBW) - An internal investigation into the actions of four Topeka Police officers in an off-duty shooting incident should wrap up by the end of the year.

Officers Jason Judd, Laura Bonebrake, Chris Bowers and Travis Jepson were off-duty in the early morning hours of March 18th, 2008, when a confrontation led to a shooting that injured brothers Daniel and Devin Llamas.

Their attorney confirms the brothers will give statements in the investigation.

Chief Ron Miller said Thursday that a meeting is scheduled to take statements from witnesses that were requested through an attorney. He also says he expects lab tests on evidence should be done by the end of the month.

Miller says the investigation is moving forward and they continue taking statements from witnesses with knowledge of what happened. He says the officers have been cooperating.

Miller also says issues involved in the investigation go beyond the off-duty officers and include actions by on-duty personnel before the four others ever went to the house.

The officers remain on administrative duty pending the outcome of the internal review.

Miller says once the review is complete, it is his call whether policies were violated and what action might be taken.
