Topeka (WIBW) - A five-year old boy found wandering Topeka's streets early Thursday morning has been reunited with his mother.
Topeka Police say a passerby spotted the child just before 5 am in the area of Munson and Lane Streets. Officers determined the child's name was Connor, but couldn't determine his last name or address.
Police took the child to Juvenile Intake, then asked for public help in locating a parent or guardian.
Just after 6am, Topeka Police say a woman contacted them, saying she had a son named Connor. Turned out, the child found on the street was her son. Police say it appears the child was being watched by a babysitter when he somehow got out of the house.
Further circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated. The child was released to his mother.
Police say they will forward reports to SRS and to the Shawnee County District Attorney’s Office Family Law Division for review.
