TOPEKA, Kan. - All of the officers involved in a March off-duty shooting incident have now been named.

An affidavit, obtained by the Topeka Capital Journal, names Chris Bowers, Laura Bonebrake, Travis Jepson and Jason Judd.

It states all of the officers had been drinking the night of a shooting incident that injured brothers Daniel and Devin Llamas.

The paper also reports the officers did not identify themselves as officers until after shots were fired.

Judd has been charged. All of the officers are on paid administrative leave.

I happen to know Jason Judd and the situation that everyone is so willing to condemn a few cops for is totally justified. The thugs were yelling obscenities at the cops and saying "we're going to kill a cop tonight". The cops only went over ther to ask them to please keep it down because everyone was trying to just have a peaceful night. One of the thugs began beaiting up the female cop (outstanding citizen huh). Another thug then pulled a gun. THAT'S WHEN JASON PULLED HIS GUN--PEOPLE!!! Get a clue!

I'd like to say that Topeka Police wonder why people have so little respect for them?? Well when you have a vendetta and go out of your way to do things to people because you don't like them or their skin color(let's not forget that these nuts as they were called)have a right, as we all do,to party on a holiday(let's also not forget this was ST.PATTY'S DAY)so let's not make it there fault for the actions of our so-called police dept. Topeka police are notorious for being crooked(and I am a law abiding citizen who owns her own home. I can only say that when you raise your children a certain way(i.e Jason Judd I know his mother and she isn't to fond of people of color so naturally I can see why her son is in this situation.)well you get what you deserve and the apple didn't fall far from the tree in this case. I think TPD should take lessons in diversity because not everyone is going to put up with your racist ways just because you have a gun.Chief, find out who your officers are!

they are on paid leave because of a contract agreement between TPD and the City of Topeka - yes, your City "Government"...Your entire city is a model of how not to do it...i'm laughing so hard right now i might wet myself...GOOD LUCK in Topeka, KS (Joke City USA)

Looks like the bad boys are going to get rich for stupid actions because of a few dumb action, supposedly cops. Hope some way they have to pay back the tax money spent on this extended vacation.

surprise surprise--officer bowers was involved in this. I have personally had a run in with this crooked cop while he was off duty. He straight up lied in his "police" (calling this man a police officer is a joke) report to secure any conviction he could to win a personal vendetta. this "officer" needs off the force immediatly. He is such a lying punk i cant beleive he is a cop. what i wouldnt give for 5 min. alone with this criminal piece of trash. It blows my mind that we let him roam our streets in a police cruiser with a gun--scary.

I think they pretty much have been proven guilty. And from all evidence given to the public so far I don't think that (at least this time) it was the disrespectful nuts up the streets fault. I think it was a personal vendeta against them by the neighboring cop. Can't you just wait until they call you up asking for your money to donate to their retirement. Yeah right. It is this and many other instances that make me laugh at that. I guess they can do like most everyone else, put money away themselves for their retirement.

Chris Bowers!! lol He's an idiot anyway. So people deserve to get shot now for partying and having loud music now? Is that what you're saying?

Posted by: keepitreal Location: topeka on Oct 13, 2008 at 09:29 AM
They should not be on paid leave. Its innocent until proven quilty but....they should not be getting paid. As far as blameing the kids that got shot for being loud on their own property so if we have a party and get to loud we deserve to be shot by a drunk police officers thats are off duty and do not announce that they are police officers....Did I mention that the drunk off duty police officers were driving drunk and carrying guns..Get real people they belong in jail with all the other criminals....

GWallace- they gave up the "private citizen" label when they accepted the badge. Due to their jobs, they should be held to a higher standard than the average "private citizen". All four of these officers should be fired immediately. I am tired of knowing that we the citizens are still paying for their salaries months after their drunken episode. The average "private citizen" would have been sitting in jail all this time with no pay. These four "officers" were driving intoxicated and carrying deadly weapons while intoxicated. These two facts have been established. Go to jail Mr Judd and friends and do not pass go.

Nice....Yes the officers should pay the price for what they did. But don't forget, none of this would have happened if those disrespectful nuts up the street would have kept things quiet around there. All we worry about is the TPD. What about all the nuts in this town just like those brothers who think it is okay to disturb your neighbors late at night. Are we that jacked up in our heads to think this behavior is okay? All I see if everyone standing up for those punks who can't learn to stay quiet at night. Go to a club if you want it loud. Let us who actually work hard for a living get some sleep at night.

Officer Judd gave me a ticket a couple years ago stating I didn't stop when I left the alleyway by my home. I plead not guilty for the simple fact, the alleyway is too steep and if you don't stop you would bottom out your vehicle. When I showed up for my court date with pictures of the alleyway for proof, the city attorney was surprised to see me because according to his records I had telephoned a few days prior and pled guilty. Now it makes me wonder if officer Judd had a party to go to that day and didn't want to use his time to appear in court and called in guilty for me. Gee wonder how many fans of TPD are signing up for jury duty for this case.

shame for the officers that the two skank brothers are probably going to get off and the police are going to be charged. For those of you so willing to criticize, who do you call when you have a problem?

Posted by: GWallace Location: Carbondale on Oct 12, 2008 at 01:59 PM
Since when do police officers not get the same consideration as private citizens?? They too are considered innocent until PROVEN guilty, or did you forget that one from school. They will keep their jobs until this is all said and done. What happens after that will depend on the outcome. And they weren't on duty, Missy, so they can be drinking.

Posted by: MissyKS on Oct 12, 2008 at 11:24 AM
I'd like to know why they are on administrative leave and not in a jail cell. How can using a gun on duty after drinking possibly be legal? Not to mention, why are we paying these people to sit home and do nothing? The TPD is a complete joke.

Posted by: ac Location: ks on Oct 12, 2008 at 07:29 AM
If the cops had been drinking-Who was driving? And to have them with their guns! Just another instance that a cop can do whatever they want and get away with it! Let an ordinary citizen try this and they wouldnt get paid time off , They would be lookin through bars!!!!

way to go TPD

It's crazy when one of the people you were friends with in elementary school turns out to be a police officer and was involved in something like this.

Posted by: xp Location: topeka on Oct 11, 2008 at 09:46 PM
why are they still being paid. They knew what they were doing.

Posted by: anonymous2 Location: Topeka on Oct 11, 2008 at 06:41 PM
I agree totally

Posted by: Anonymous on Oct 11, 2008 at 02:39 PM
none of them should still be getting paid, as a matter of fact none of them should still be employed by the city of Topeka. any other average citizen would have done this we would be in jail, and without jobs. Newsflash, you cops are not above the law no matter how much you and the others in this police department think you are, and you should pay the price.
