TOPEKA, Kan. - A convicted rapist will spend more than 15 years in prison for the crime.

George Brooks III, 39, of Topeka, was sentenced Friday to 155 months for the rape and one year each for two counts of blackmail and one count of breach of privacy. The jury acquitted Brooks of a charge of Attempted Rape in July.

Shawnee County District Attorney Robert Hecht said Brooks forced the victim to "permit him to engage in sex with her by blackmailing her with threats of taking actions that would severely impact the lives of several persons." Hecht said Brooks somehow obtained personal and private information from the victim's personal computer.
