A challenge from the Kansas Secretary of Agriculture may help you eat healthier.

Adrian Polansky wants Kansans to eat more locally produced food.

Polansky says the best place to get them is your local farmers' market.

He says the crops are all grown by area farmers and picked just hours before they go on sale.

Shopping at a farmers' market also helps the local economy. Polansky says the vendors invest the money back into the community.

Topeka holds a Farmers' Market every Wednesday on the south side of the Statehouse grounds. Another Farmers' Market takes place Saturday mornings in the Judicial Center Parking Lot.

Does anyone know where some good farmer's markets are in our area? I would love to support local growers!

yes you need to support your local farmers. they are enduring tough times. farmers have paid exhorbantly high prices for oil, diesel fuel, chemical fertilizer tires everything they used to put the crop in and now when the government has gotten their money for the stuff needed to put a crop in, they are busting the buns off the price of the crop that the farmer will be selling in the fall. it's a gotch situation for some one (maybe the oil companies) but not for the farming community.
