Charges of Attempted Rape were filed against Anthony Joseph Hocket, 18, of Auburn, Kan.
Shawnee County District Attorney Robert Hecht says the charges stem from an incident occurring on May 29, 2008 at the Auburn Library, when a man dressed in black, wearing a black ski mask, attacked a part-time employee of the library.
Hecht says during the assault, the man sought to rape the part-time library employee. However, due to the courageous resistance of the victim, the attack was thwarted.
Hecht's office has requested Hocket be held in custody on a $150,000 professional surety bond.
Hocket appeared in court for the first time Tuesday before the Honorable Richard D. Anderson.
