Fire Officials: Vehicle Purposely Set on Fire Save Email Print

The Topeka Fire Department responded to a report of a car fire at 1001 SE Highland Avenue, shortly before 7:30pm Thursday, May 15, 2008. Firefighters arrived on scene and found a vehicle with a small fire in the interior, passenger compartment.

The Topeka Fire Department’s Fire Investigations Unit was summoned to the scene to assist with an investigation into this incident; the results of the investigation revealed:
• Cause (of this fire) – incendiary/intentionally set.
• Origin – interior, passenger compartment.
• Estimated dollar damage/loss - $2,500.00

Topeka Fire Department investigators, along with Topeka Police officers were able to locate a suspect and question this person on the scene of this incident. Based on information gathered in connection with this investigation, one suspect was arrested (on the scene), and charged with arson and aggravated criminal threat.

Probably couldn't afford the payment anymore from Cash Title and Loans and burned it.
