Health care was front and center for business owners meeting with Kansas Congresswoman Nancy Boyda Monday.

Boyda, D-2nd district, spoke to the Topeka Independent Business Association's lunch meeting at the Blind Tiger, 417 SW 37th. When she asked what their concerns were, one man rose to proclaim the number one issue for small businesses for more than 20 years has been health care.

Boyda says she understands they want to see Congress do something to help them with health care. But she says it's no accident she hasn't chosen a side on the issue. She says she feels choosing a position would take her out of the discussion because she'd then spend all her time defending that position. In addition, she says she admits she doesn't understand all the complexities involved.

"I don't have the answers," she told them.

Boyda says she's met privately with small groups getting input on the health care issue.
