A hearing is set for next week in a lawsuit over whether to buy a new Topeka Police helicopter and city human resources software system.

Shawnee County District Attorney Robert Hecht filed the suit. He argues the city's council approval of the purchases wasn't valid.

The mayor vetoed both purchases. The council was only able to override the software purchase, but Hecht says the helicopter remains an issue, because the groups with which the city contracted could demand payment.

A motions hearing in the case is set for Thursday, May 15th.
