A heroic, life-saving act earns a Jackson County deputy and a citizen a special honor.

Deputy Tyler Caudle pulled over 72-year-old Francis Kennedy for driving erratically the night of April 2nd. Kennedy got out of his vehicle and collapsed. Deputy Caudle called for an ambulance and started CPR.

Jason Streeter of Holton happened to be on his way to work at Jostens when he say the commotion. He stopped and helped Caudle revive Kennedy. Turns out, Streeter had just been through a lifesaving training class at Jostens.

"You try to do whatever you can to help. That's all I did," Streeter said. "I was glad Jostens gave me the training and I knew what to do. Just right place, right time."

Kennedy was on hand Monday as Streeter and Caudle received certificates of merit from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. He says he was happy to thank the two in person.

"I really appreciate what they've done for me," Kennedy said. "It's really wonderful that there are people like that."
