The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued an Emergency Order of Suspension against a licensed day care home operated by Deborah Kay Henning, located 1502 W. 27 St. in Lawrence.

KDHE has also issued an Emergency Order of Suspension against a licensed day care home operated by Jessica Dawn Cummings, located at 1338 N. Parkwood Lane in Wichita.

The two cases are unrelated.

State law allows the Secretary of KDHE to issue such orders when, in the opinion of the Secretary, the orders are necessary to protect children in the home from any potential threat to health or safety.

The orders are subject to appeal to the Secretary.
