Washburn University kicked off their United Way campaign, "Catch the Winning Spirit," Wednesday afternoon.

Nancy Perry, president of the United Way of Greater Topeka, talked about Washburn's partnership with United Way, Sharolyn Dugger, executive director, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), performed a group activity and explained how United Way dollars help community partners.

Washburn University leads the community as the first donor group to stage a United Way campaign for 2008. Faculty, staff and students will have an opportunity to pledge support to the United Way from March 26 through April 25.

Several special events have been planned to help raise awareness and donations throughout the month.

This year's campaign approach is to help those at Washburn gain a better understanding of what United Way does for our community and how we as members of this community can become more involved.
