Warm and windy weather is causing traffic troubles across northwest Kansas.
Authorities have closed I-70 in both directions from Colby, to Burlington, Colo. The strong southern winds and poor visibility could create a hazard to traffic traveling east and west.
Gusts are nearing 60 miles per hour across portions of northwest corner of the state.
Wind gusts across south central Kansas may exceed 40 miles per hour Thursday, dying down to about 30 miles per hour overnight.
Jay Prater, KAKEland's Managing Meteorologist, said the Kansas winds should begin to calm down sometime Saturday.
