Temperatures in Wichita this spring were the warmest on record in more than 120 years, the National Weather Service said.

The average spring temperature recorded at Mid-Continent Airport was 64.4 degrees from March through May. That is about 8 degrees above normal. The previous record was 59.9 degrees set in 2006.

The NWS said Wichita experienced the second warmest March, fifth warmest April, and second warmest May since records have been kept.

The new records follows a mild winter, the fifth warmest ever recorded.
