UPDATE: Thursday, April 26, 2012

Thunderstorms began crossing into southwest Kansas in the mid-evening hours, most of which remained below severe limits.

The main threats associated with the storms were hail up to one inch in diameter and high winds.

We did receive a report of baseball-sized hail near Big Bow around 8:00 p.m.

No damage reports have come in.

Three counties in southwest Kansas are under a severe thunderstorm watch.

The National Weather Service Issued the watch for Hamilton, Morton and Stanton counties around 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Hamilton’s watch expires at 9 p.m., while the watch for Morton and Stanton counties is expected to last until 10 p.m.

The storms could bring hail up to two inches in diameter, 70 mph wind gusts and dangerous lightning.

A Wind Advisory was also issued for Clark, Edwards, Finney, Ford, Grant, Gray, Haskell, Hodgeman, Kearny, Kiowa, Lane, Meade, Ness, Pawnee, Scott and Seward Counties until 8 p.m.
