The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for much of western Kansas.
The watch is expected to last until 11 p.m.
The thunderstorms are expected to develop in northwest Kansas this afternoon, moving into north central Kansas by evening. The storms are expected to produce large hail, damaging winds and excessive rainfall.
Kansas counties included in the watch: Cheyenne, Clark, Decatur, Finney, Ford, Gove, Graham, Grant, Gray, Greeley, Hamilton, Haskell, Hodgeman, Kearny, Lane, Logan, Meade, Morton, Ness, Norton, Rawlins, Scott, Seward, Sheridan, Sherman, Stanton, Stevens, Thomas, Trego, Wallace and Wichita.
