An unsettled weather pattern will result in very good rain and thunderstorm chances for most of KAKEland, especially South Central Kansas.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of South Central and Southeast Kansas until 11:00 p.m. Wichita and Sedgwick County are not in the watch area.
Counties in the watch area are Allen, Bourbon, Butler, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Cowley, Crawford, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson & Woodson.
KAKEland Managing Meteorologist Jay Prater said the rain chances will start this evening and last into Friday, with some lingering smaller chances into the weekend.
A few thunderstorms may produce a few 1” hail stones or a gust to 60 mph, but this threat is low.
Prater is monitoring the conditions from the KAKEland WeatherPlex.
