Tornadoes touched down in parts of central Kansas Friday night injuring one person, destroying some homes and buildings, and knocking down trees and power lines.
Rush County and Russell County Emergency Management officials reported damages to the Kansas Division of Emergency Management. The storms came through the area at approximately 10 p.m.
Russell County officials reported a tornado touch down near Interstate 70 in the city of Russell that injured one person. The individual, transported to Russell Hospital, was injured from being inside a mobile home that was destroyed.
Several outbuildings and other homes sustained damages in the area. Local officials conducted search and rescue operations after the tornado. The county will continue to assess damage today.
