One person was killed and 18 others taken to hospitals after they were struck by lightning over the weekend.
At least 80 people were gathered outside a Lakeland, Florida church when lightning hit a wooden barn nearby. Polk county officials say that the people taken to hospitals do not appear to have serious injuries.
According to the National Weather Service, there are about 1.5
million lightning strikes a year in Florida on average.
