Kansas apparently has dodged the brunt of a winter storm that dropped freezing rain across Oklahoma and Arkansas and caused power outages and hazardous driving conditions.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reports that there were no major accidents in southeast Kansas, where forecasters had warned drivers to stay off the highways because of the threat of ice.

The roads around Wichita and in the southeast part of the state were slick for a while, but Tuesday's weather was more of a nuisance than a real storm.

There wasn't enough freezing rain to cause tree damage, and other than some minor snow flurries, there wasn't much more precipitation expected throughout the day.
